fwiw, I found

ftp.us3.freshrpms.net (ftp.silug.org) to be too slow to be useful

but this, worked well...
ftp://ftp.no.freshrpms.net/pub/linux/Freshrpms/ayo/fedora/linux/7/i386/freshrpms

and heanet is still unresponsive and it doesn't bode well.
