Yes, booted back. As previously mentioned I chose to do it under Windows 
on purpose - just because I use and run Linux doesn't mean I shun other 
OSes out of hand. I wanted to see what Intervideo WinDVD thought about 
the situation, as I am familiar with it in use on Dell laptops (for 
work). John pointed to regionset in the previous reply which I chose to 
read, understand but not actually use at this time.

I felt it unimportant for this list, not being mplayer related - I 
posted here first because the packages came from FreshRPMs and I was 
unsure where the problem was situated logistically. As I found out 
thanks to a member, my problems were/are in no way FreshRPMs related - I 
wasn't asking for mplayer help, that comment was a PS on the end of the 
email.

I found several random forum threads during my search that indicates 
mplayer uses an internal libdvdcss that differs in issues from the 
external libdvdcss linked into apps like Xine. If I choose to do so, 
I'll chase the problem down and post on the appropriate list(s).
