Hi,
Zod is here, Zod is here! And for the very first time, we have a
default eye-candy filled desktop you can spend hours playing with!
Wobbly windows! Workspaces on a cube! Update now! (1)
And since there is now accelerated OpenGL for many ATI video cards
using the free driver (worked for me on a cheap only 6 months old
PCI-express ATI card), but still no free driver that supports
accelerated 3D for Nvidia cards, all you need to do to get the binary
Nvidia driver is enable the freshrpms.net repository, run this and
reboot :
yum install nvidia-x11-drv
Easy, eh?
Other new-ish "easy" things include :
- Working ipw3945 support : "yum install dkms-ipw3945", reboot
- Working madwifi support : "yum install madwifi", reboot
- Working lirc kernel module support : "yum install dkms-lirc", reboot
All the rest includes the latest and greatest versions of all
multimedia libraries and applications, including the brand new MPlayer
1.0rc1.
Grab your Fedora Core 6 copy now! Then visit :

http://zod.freshrpms.net/
...and have fun!

(1) You need to have hardware accelerated OpenGL and enable "desktop
effects" from the preferences menu.
