I got it working fine with the 2798 kernel and your packages. Problem
seems to be that your ipw3945d package doesn't provide a startup script
to actually start the daemon and it doesn't work without it. The
original binary blob from intel includes start and stop scripts. I just
ran "ipw3945d" as root and it got the job done.
