Offtopic, but if you haven't tried it, also check out OTR (plugin 
gaim-otr is in Extras). After having beaten both up, we ended up 
choosing OTR over G-E as it's more portable/inter-operable with non-GAIM 
people (AdiumX, Trillian, iChat, etc).
